I believe keeping fit can keep you young. I recall seeing on TV, an eighth decade Hawaiin fellow who hiked uphill everyday and he looked like a sixther.

Then there are some 80 years olds that should stay home and watch TV.

I believe you have a bit of experience in the oil drilling field, so you've been exposed to environmental upheaval like is being experienced here.
We got lucky, for some reason about a 10 square block area of NE NJ had power throughout. It makes me think of an old Twilight Zone episode where Aliens were on a hill overlooking a small town and turning the power on to different peoples homes, and the mob would turn on them.

Not sure what you are talking about social situation and drilling for oil? Although my wife passed away young I still consider my inlaws as still inlaws and the families resides in New Jersey. 2-of the families suffered with no electricity until Saturday while a 3rd I am unsure about. All suffered from minor storm damage.

Drilling for oil? Yes and no, I am no drilling expert however I oversee well completions after the well is drilled. Basically getting the oil to the tank or pipeline at ground level. I am on drilling rigs but generally on them when not drilling and all your drill pipe a BHA is out of the hole.

If you are talking about fracturing the formation or fracking that is not new. However fracking horizontally is which is all the hot topic is about now. For years oil companies used high pressure fluids detrimental to the environment and used waste fluids as their fracking fluids. Not good, never was however I feel still at this time there is no way to control the fractures. Simply put you can encase the borehole and annulus from here to hell but if the fractures reach areas such as aquifers and fault zones then I do believe this could be both a geological and environmental repercussions. Aquifers could become contaminated by methane and oil some refer to as condensate help in shale formations. Geologically in fault zones the fracking fluids could create a lubricant that could enhance movement or a earthquake. Now some may argue allowing minor earthquakes is relieving pressure that in time could build up causing a much more severe earthquake causing catastrophic damage. I aint buying that shït either.

I maintain the size of the fractured zone depends both on the strata and geological pressure in that formation. Some agree while some disagree. Just because you have a buildup of methane in a aquifer does not mean it came from a drilling project. A good deal is natural occurring. Same with earthquakes.

Just my opinion, hope this answers your question.
