Saw this on another forum and LOL'd.
Here was the topic:
Turns out Obama IS going to quietly meet with Putin...
Quote:It got almost no notice, but at yesterday’s Senate hearing on Syria, Secretary of State John Kerry made a stunning revelation: President Obama is backtracking on his decision not to meet with President Vladimir Putin during the president’s visit to Russia.

Recall: Obama cancelled his summit with Putin because of Russia’s decision to provide asylum to fugitive NSA leaker Edward Snowden. An incensed White House said that Obama would neither travel to Moscow for a meeting with Putin, nor would have a bilateral meeting with Putin at the G20 Summit in St. Petersburg.

On August 7, the New York Times reported:

Now this from a geographically challenged CT forum member...

Quote:First he had a stop over to check on his Swiss Bank accounts, then onto Russia to follow up on the flexibility he now has in this his second term. He has no right to speak on behalf of the Americas.

Swiss bank accounts? lmao2.gif He was in SWEDEN! Not Switzerland. wtf2.gif It's not the first time I've hear Americans make this error.
When I first moved here we were watching some obscure rock band from the states that were in Sweden for a music festival.
The guy says... "We're really happy to be here at the Swiss rock festival" rofl.gif Hilarity ensued as the Swedish hosts of the show lost it and quickly corrected him.
You could tell he was quite embarrassed.

Geography can be complicated. chuckle.gif

A separate meeting between Putin and Obama has also not been officially planned, though media speculation on the issue has been rife, with a report in Russian tabloid Moskovsky Komsomolets Thursday claiming a meeting of the two leaders was all but unavoidable.

Speaking to reporters at the G20 on Thursday, Russian Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that "a separate meeting [between Putin and Obama] is not planned but there will, nonetheless, be some kind of conversations."

Makes me proud to say these are my countrymen, and they vote!
