Quote:i will tell you right now as a chile head and hot pepper grower you are not going to be able to deal with the heat from bhut jolokia peppers in a sauce. ! bhut equals 6 or more habaneros and the heat is very intense. So much so it will burn nerve endings and must be used very carefully as bhut heat lasts on the tounge for 30 minutes or longer. bhut peppers are not sold on the pen market and if you grow them you have to sign a legal document before you get the plant(s) shipped to you. I have 4 bhut plants and they are not touched unless I am wearing rubber gloves and a complete face mask. they are darn right dangerous and hot to handle.
the only bhut you can buy on the open market is in powder form and 1 tsp. of powder is enough to make 5 gallons of burning hot chili. My advice: dont do it unless you know exactly what you are doing and how to handle a pepper that hot without hurting yourself or others.

I used to know a guy named Steve who ran a bar in a small town in the Northwest. He had a fine assortment of exotic hot sauces for sale and sample. I remember that before you could sample one of his sauces, you would first have to sign a waiver releasing his establishment from any liability if you happened to keel over after a taste, which was proudly served in the tip of a toothpick. I tried one called "Daves Insane Sauce". It was okay but no 1.2 million on the Scoville scale. I won't go there, I love hot things but there is a limit!!!

I believe it Stoppit, dumbass that I am I went ahead with the ghost pepper. Not peppers, pepper. One little one. Just one. I wore a glove but took it off to wash the cutting board and the cut on my finger is on fire. Then I washed my hands (AGAIN) and touched my lips and they're on fire. I didn't even friggin touch the pepper. It was 5x removed from contact with my skin and my hands and mouth are on fire.

So one little ghost pepper in about 2 gallons of salsa and ho-lee fukn hell.=

eta.. The fumes from my hands that never touched the pepper and were washed 15x are making my eyes burn.

I'm tellin ya, some of these peppers have been known to send people to the hospital or even worse. I have heard of people dying of a heart attack from shock to the body from such intense pain and burning. I have no desire to even touch a ghost pepper, let alone eat one.

Here, found this, poor guy is a nut and this one proves it...

Just to put this into perspective: Jalapenos rate about 3,000 su, red habaneros rate about 300,000 su and ghost peppers rate about 1.2-1.3 MILLION su.

I was high as hell and ate a raw habanero one time. ONE TIME.

NEVER AGAIN!

Stupid is as stupid does.

That was ğkking stupid.

Milk didn't help. Yogurt didn't help. Sour cream didn't help. NOTHING but time made the burn get to a manageable level.

And my high completely left me...

Well yeah, even I was never that dumb rofl.gif
Skunk cabbage, now there's a hot. It generates it's own heat. Melts the snow around it in spring. But even it rates 200,000 su.
