I got sick of paying gold prices for disposable razor cartridges and decided to do something about it. I went old school. I did a lot of research and found that the old double edge razors like my grandfather used give a much better shave for pennies.

This is the razor I went with.

I picked up an Omega boar bristle brush

and some Feather blades to go with it.

I've only used it once but I have to say I was very pleased. If you want to learn more about shaving with safety/double edge razors or straight razors you can learn all you want at the Blade and Badger forum. You can also learn a lot on Youtube.

This is a manly thread, maybe when Octo and I get to the States we can get together and shave. chuckle.gif
Seriously, Octo and I share one razor, a Gillette Mach III and a pack of 8 razor blades lasts an entire year!
All the other disposable twin blades were good for one use with me, I have some pretty course facial hair. The Mach III blades last for months with us both using the same one. It costs us around 18 Euros a year, traditional single use disposables would set us back hundreds, and cut into our beer money. chuckle.gif

We have been using the Gillette fusion blades. They run about $35 for 12 blades and I can't use them more than a few times.

As funny as Hank the Tank was, ummm... no.

Uh, JR... that sounds fun and all... but I'll pass. chuckle.gif

The double edge blades are much cheaper. Honestly, I don't see how people can use those single use disposables. They are only one step above shaving with a broken bottle.

fantastic thread! Funny but I've been dealing with the shaving issue these last few days. I normally have my trusty electric shaver that cost me a princely sum but I lost my charge lead and have yet to replace it. I have had to go back to the close shave but it has been ripping my skin with cuts and rashes...in India and Malaysia I used to get my shave from the local hairdressers and they would pull out these long blades like they were going to stab you and they would be so quick and agile; not once in a hundred shaves did any of them cut me, they were that skilled. The aftershave they try and slap on you once they've finished is another story. It smells so bad it could empty a city in minutes....

I can see by your coat my friend you're from the other side. Just one thing I got to know. Who won?

lmao.gif You should open a Brazilian wax shop out there in Cali, you have some real "cutting edge" techniques.

I buy the cheap gillette disposables. I guess a razor lasts about 3-4 weeks, so one large bag will last a year.

Not even I could get a disposable razor last that long. scream.gif

But I guess I cover larger areas. coffeetime.gif
