Not for long.

Baby pigs dying by millions

Quote: A virus never before seen in the U.S. has killed millions of baby pigs in less than a year, and with little known about how it spreads or how to stop it, it’s threatening pork production and pushing up prices by 10 percent or more.

Estimates of how many pigs have died in the past year vary, ranging from at least 2.7 million to more than 6 million. The U.S. Department of Agriculture says the die-off has had a hand in shrinking the nation’s pig herd by 3 percent to about 63 million pigs.

This is called Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea (PED) and its spreading fast. Virginia reported their first case today. Heres a map of the infected states so far.

Years back we got a baby pig that we were going to raise for the table. What a joke that was. Next thing you know the kids thought it was to cold for him outdoors. So he came inside. Few weeks later he was sleeping in the bed with the kids. He finally got to big to stay inside. He was a pet for a long time, then he got a bit aggressive so we gave him to a friend with a large farm

His name was 'Porky' of course.

He had a strange fascination with basketballs. He would hump them.

lmao.gif I had a Vietnamese pot belly named Hamlet. He got too big and I gave him to a Mennonite family,he was gentle as a lamb and loved their kids and dogs so it worked out well.
Now as far as the basketball... rofl.gif He sounds a little frustrated to me. chuckle.gif

Beef too

Quote: Due to an absolutely crippling drought that won’t let go of the western half of the country, the total size of the U.S. cattle herd has shrunk for seven years in a row, and it is now the smallest that is has been since 1951. But back in 1951, we had less than half the number of mouths to feed.
