I taught myself to play a basic steel-stringed guitar when I was 16 years old and so the other weekend, I strummed a few notes on my son's girlfriend's new nylon-stringed guitar. The sound just wasn't there for me. It was missing something...can anyone put their finger on it for me?

The sound is different, but maybe nylon is easier on the fingers?

For sure the nylon is easier on the fingers but the tone or vibration is weak, or something like that is missing.
