The box has a heart on it, so yes... that's what caused it.

Do your heart a favor and get on a low carb high fat diet.

So you know, one banana contains more carbs than I consume in an entire day.

I am speaking of the life of a man who knows that the world is not given by his fathers, but borrowed from his children; who has undertaken to cherish it and do it no damage, not because he is duty-bound, but because he loves the world and loves his children… - Wendell Berry, 1971

Yup, carbs are largely unnecessary in the diet.

Yeah, only about 10% of your daily calorie intake should be carbs and those should be high fiber car, complex carbs with as many micro nutrients as possible.

Yup. Paleo is a little more restrictive on food variety than what I'm doing. You can literally search YouTube for low carb high fat or look at the Primal Diet site. The basis is the same. No grains, sugars, vegetable oils, processed foods or white, starchy simple carbs. About 70-75% of your daily calories should come from fats (Animal and vegetable sources), 15% from protein and 5-10% from complex carbs. You basically eat a standard palm sized serving of meat with a side and lots of leafy greens.

Get on this diet and stick with it for a month or two. It will change your life.

FYI: I started this diet around Feb 20 of this year. The last time my BP was taken I was in the ER covered in poison ivy. Even with all that my BP had dropped from 140/90 to 130/80. My pulse has dropped from 80+ to 62. I feel better than I have in decades. My depression went away and I have lost 75 pounds. My blood work from the beginning was all good so I have not had it rechecked. (MY wife had tremendous improvements in her blood work.)

To top it off, I NEVER feel like I am starving like other diets will do to you. I will have butter and coconut oil coffee with a breakfast meat and three eggs every morning about 4:30 and not eat again until dinner without feeling hungry in between.

I think the key to the modern obesity problem is the carb loaded diet we eat. Walk through your local grocery store and take a close look. Take notice of all the high carb foods. This processed carb diet has made us highly insulin sensitive and not only is it affecting us mentally it is killing us.

This dependency/addiction, and the devastating effect it has on our bodies and minds, to carbs is so bad that many people that start eating LCHF have a period of a few days at the beginning where they have flu like symptoms. I didn't have them, but many do. Just stick with it and the symptoms will clear up in a few days.

Also, many medical conditions will be corrected with this diet.

My parents invite me over to Sunday dinner each week. My mother fills half the plate up with potato's. Mushroom sauce is over the mashed potato's along with butter and chives. The other half of the plate is filled with Stouffer's dressing. Three small pieces of chicken are near the top . Dessert is store bought Apple Pie with maple pecan ice cream.

Good for you kreeper.. The more carbs you eat the hungrier you get. If I eat a large bowl of pasta for dinner I'm starving again an hour later..

Breakfast at 430am and not hungry again till dinner time? Wow..

Thanks!

Yeah, it's amazing just how efficiently the body burns fat when it doesn't have carbs gumming up the works. It's the combination of fats and carbs that cause blockages and heart problems. The carbs burn up faster and more easily but are not good for powering our bodies. That leaves the fat to be stored in body fat and arteries. We don't burn the stored fat because eating carbs leaves us hungry and we continuously eat more. We are designed for burning fat, not carbs.
