Solstice passed a couple of days ago but we celebrate according to modern tradition on the closest available weekend which is today combined with my parents diamond wedding anniversary.

Do you need a list of all the types of fish I had?

Since you're so going to ask anyway I'll just admit it was a shameless orgy of salt cured, warm smoked, cold smoked, baked wild salmon in addition to the salads and the varieties of fresh potato salads.

Now since this is the feast of pickled herring it requires its own paragraph and here it is.

Oh and strawberry cake as well as a french chocolate cake with whipped cream with after dinner coffee... burp.png

Hi Adde! Yes it was good!! beercheer.gif It was the worst imaginable weather (think 20+people inside a small cabin with no oxygen) with cold temps, harsh northern winds and rains from hell.

But it was good. I had fun. Everyone did,

At least it wasn't as hot as Satan's taint.

What politics from both sides wants to teach us is that things are never complex. If you have your little package and something doesn't fit into that package, You don't know what to make of it so you want to dismiss it or then you will have to do the work of reconsidering your assumptions. - Michael Malice

I am glad you guys had a blast and some good fish. By the way, I've never tried herring, what other fish would it taste like?

Herring tastes very fishy, JR doesn't like it at all unless it's pickled

No, not really like anchovies, but I haven't had fresh anchovies so I don't know. Same with sardines which it's also similar to.

I like fresh breaded butter fried herring with mashed taters, that's a real traditional dish. I'm sure you can find a jar of pickled herring in your store? You should try it, it's really good.

I was looking at a jar the other day but didn't buy it. So I like that breaded with butter recipe with taters, I will try it.
