Normally, the Turkeys don't arrive here until a few weeks before Christmas, if at all.... so we decided to do it up with all the trimmings! yay.gif beercheer.gif
We begin the Brine process tonight, it's hands down the only way to do turkey. It comes out consistently moist and flavorful. Definitely 100% better than without.
We willl, take pics of the whole process.
Starting with the Brine which is as follows:

Brine:

1 cup salt
1 cup brown sugar
2 lemons, quartered
4 tsp dry thyme
2 tsp rosemary

To make the brining solution, dissolve the salt and sugar in 2 gallons of cold water in a non-reactive container (such as a clean bucket or large stockpot, or a clean, heavy-duty, plastic garbage bag.) Add lemons, thyme, and rosemary.

Note: if you have a big turkey and need more brine than this, use 1/2 cup salt and 1/2 cup brown sugar for every gallon of water.

Well keep you posted as we go...with pics and the rest of the recipe. beerbong.gif İmage

The slaughter method is also Kosher certified and many meat comapnies do it my god the Islamaphobia is mind boggling.

rofl.gif In Finland, you can't get anything that's kosher...not even salt unless you travel to Helsinki. And yeah.... Good point Shadow. WTF is going on with all that Islamaphobia BS on some websites? I'm really burned out on ignorant haters. Totally ridiculous, I don't believe that Today's Halal certified is tomorrow Sharia law! rofl.gif

Too late now, but next time try a dry brine.

It would take about three days. It supposedly works much better than a wet brine.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Friends invited us over so we will not be cooking our turkey. I might just give this recipe a try.

Wow, dry brine eh? Great idea but yeah, unfortunately we're a couple days late on our turkey purchase. Sounds really interesting though, always looking for improvements. We're in the beer and prebrine stage at the moment chuckle.gif Getting ready to sterilize one of our beer brewing buckets for the process. beerbong.gif
