It's a grocery store unlike any other I've been to. Shoppers walk around while sipping on beer or wine. It is just the coolest thing. I haven't done it because 3-4 ounces of beer is all I drink these days and it's quite seldom. But the whole idea rocks!

They carry a lot of organic food, too. The store is new to the area and only the second one in Florida. So to promote their store they sent out coupons that let customers take 20% off their entire grocery bill!

You can buy everything from sushi to ramen to salads and subs and then eat what you've bought in their cafe.

There is a big chalk board to write whatever you want or to draw a picture.

Good times!

My landlord works at the local Lucky's. They are owned by Kroger. Kroger is using them to come into Florida because Publix broke their agreement to not go into the Kroger areas. I think they are grossly over priced.

According to some articles, Kroger is providing some financial help to the owners of Lucky's Market to expand a little more quickly than they have done thus far. They might own part of the company.

Promising another food chain that they would not go into a territory could get that company in trouble with federal restraint of trade, btw.

Some of Luck's Market prices are far better than Publix while others are far higher. Lucky's was selling organic honey crisp apples for under $1.60 a pound! Publix prices for that apple are usually $3.99 a pound.

But other stuff, like Wallaby's organic kefir, is 50 cents higher at Lucky's. Lucky's doesn't sell nonorganic cat food in the little three ounce cans. Their organic canned catfood is $1.49. Nonorganic at Publix is 50 cents a can. Newman's organic cat food was about $1.10 when they carried it.

So you are right. Lucky's can be quite high if you don't compare. It's not a store that is in competition with the lowest price stores. They make a mean turkey and bacon 6-inch sub for $5.99. Thick with meat and heated right there! Mmm!

A shoplifter who complains about being ripped off when two parties agree on a transaction at a predetermined price, but not with transactions where one of the parties sets his own price without the agreement of the other party.

Sounds like someone is into the pinties. coffeetime.gif

He is in the cups for sure. Either beer or men's jock straps. Maybe both.
