Here it is, Sunday, October 12th, 2014.
Scores of millions will be zombified by Football, Baseball playoffs, and Bourne marathons, yet how many are aware that a second Dallas Ebola victim has been announced.

Tip of the day: a hundred Bic lighters will be worth more than a hundred ounces of silver if TSHTF with this Ebolamania.

Beans-booze-bullets, the new money.
Anyone able to secure a thousand 1.5 ounce bottles of liquor will be in a better position for bartering than the guy with 20 1.75 liter bottles.

If i ever created a compilation of my hundred favorite songs...

This wonderfully effervescent tune would be one of them (*-*)

Bic lighters are useless after getting wet till dry .
Smart Hikers & prepers carry at least 3 forms of ignition in extreme conditions.
1 flint striker could be priceless over 100 wet dead bics in a wet hypothermia condition.
Booze can help hypothermia etc but only a little is needed.
Ammo & survival gear etc could hold the most value in isolated extreme conditions. Silver & gold would be dead weight possible no value in extreme survival mode.

I agree Chazz, my point of view is from a stationary setting, not a bug-out into an unknown forest.
I have allowed myself to become known as a reliable, knowledgable, and sober part of a semi-rural community.
That gives me entry.
I expect to survive "collapse" and be able to function, even in a 19th century environment. I believe if this collapse occurs, what we know of as "normal" will never return.
I believe those who take to the woods will be dead within a week, dehydrated.

Possibly but in a mad max world, the ones who stay in cities won't fare much better. The best would be a small defended community of well prepared people, well water, wood heat, stocked pantry. Wait a minute... that's what I have rofl.gif
