Honest Opinions Wanted: Is Society Really As Stupid As It Seems?

Let me preface this by saying that I am perfectly willing to accept that people are no more stupid than they have been in the past, and my perception is just a result of me getting old. Also, my intention is not to sound like I feel I'm so much more intelligent than the majority of people; I just feel like I'm watching the human race reduce itself to the lowest common denominator.

Everywhere I look, people seem dumber. They have rock solid stances on things that they seem to know anything about outside of the MSM, nor can they discuss one of these topics without resorting to name-calling and trolling and parroting buzz words.

This goes for people on either side of an issue, not just one side; I've listened to both Conservatives and Liberals who, quite frankly, should have been swallowed.

I can't even narrow it down to a specific topic; it's apparent (at least to me) in everything.

Every issue that becomes something that the public feels passionately about, appears to be a common sense one, yet these idiots can't seem to figure it out for the life of them, and when a common sense approach is mentioned, it's shouted down, loudly.

So, am I just getting old, and people are just goddamn stupid in general, or are people really growing dumber with the passing of each day?

Metaphor Most are like 12 year olds following want urges. The ones running the description are like 15 year old bully's keeping them Dumb downed with overwhelming new dumber downs. Some of us have exceeded both levels and are still learning to be above the programing of both children. 3 d realm is a dumping ground between lower & higher realm. You are only givin so many chances to move up or fall back.

T.V. is definitely part of the problem, IMO.

You used a semicolon correctly, most don't know where to find it on a keyboard chuckle.gif

Nobody is correct, stay the hell away from TV. No other medium is capable of putting ones mind in an alpha state, then proceeds to pummel it with propaganda, opinion molding, advertising and straight up bull shït.

As George Carlin so aptly put it -

"They want obedient workers, obedient workers. People who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork and just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly shittier jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, the reduced benefits, the end of overtime and the vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it."

BTW, posted this as Octo first, I didn't notice she was logged into my computer. I guess I'm not so brilliant either. 15.gif

Then... We as humans had to build robots and give them just enough intelligence to preform rudimentary slave tasks and not ask any questions...
Why am i getting this Deja-vu feeling???

I was just saying yesterday about that fish hooking thread ("wtf is that bro?") comment:

I can so see that happening. They always put the most stupid people on TV. Maybe it's so we can feel smarter than them and laugh at the dumb, but even so it affects the most susceptible individuals at the very least. Regardless, it's by design. Mind engineering. TV is a very powerful control tool.

And according to research the answer is yes, people are getting dumber:

Are we becoming more STUPID? IQ scores are decreasing

Hmmmyes, but at the same time, science, technology and engineering
seem to advance alright. No user serviceable parts in- or outside chuckle.gif ;
phenomena existing only by invention now claiming basic human right
status.

Uh-oh.

Me, I learned years ago, that mentioning Picasso, Proust or Trotskij earns
you nothing but empty stares and bewildered silence. blink.gif

What to do?

Me, I try to show as much patience as personally possible and try to talk
to young people about facts - without taking a lecturing, patronizing
stance at all. Works well on my good days. Learning to STFU when not
perfectly balanced chuckle.gif

That said, I always (well...in an overwhelming majority, any case) found that
the higher the education, the more fekking brainwashed the dumb-ass.

Feels like potheads, hippies and urban scavengers are on a far more
advanced level of political and philosophical discourse than the so called
"scholars". Since years and years.

There.
I said it.
Thank all gods, rock'n'roll saved me from school.

...and yes, the international cannabis prohibition is my favorite example
of very workable, very cheap political thinking machines.

A fantastically well-available means of establishing political truth/untruth
through first hand observation of causality-bound fact.

Last year's seed, some dirt, water and sunshine.
Does not necessarily touch upon any other human's life at all.
And that is one good way of detecting bullshit per relief.
Including spin-off effects and natural extrapolation.

(But of course, the POO now got Monsanto/Syngenta & Co ready to take
over, so...)
