I'm quite used to Celsius now that I've been here for over ten years, I can calc the difference in my head at plus degrees, minus... it's another story.

Bloody interesting, though.
America seems to be all about pragmatic efficiency - but they won't introduce
the absolutely obvious metric system, nor the termometer based upon the
properties of the most common element of the surface of the Earth.
Why is that?

That is not the way we were thought in school, 0=0

Metric makes more sense. 0 = freezing 100 Celsius = boiling. It's a no brainer from a water standpoint.
The human body is more than 60 percent water. Blood is 92 percent water, the brain and muscles are 75 percent water, and bones are about 22 percent water. * A human can survive for a month or more without eating food, but only a week or so without drinking water.

If you're ever stuck out in the wilderness, remember what survival experts call 'the Rule of Threes'.

You can live 3 minutes without air, though we don't recommend trying. In a harsh environment — it's snowing, say — you have 3 hours to survive without shelter. After 3 days, you need water or you'll perish. You can make it 3 weeks without food, though we promise you that won't be fun.

Despite this possibly helpful rule, some people have survived 8 to 10 days without water. Again, leave such shenanigans to the truly desperate.

As 65 percent of the human body, water is essential to people.

Water flows through the blood, carrying oxygen and nutrients to cells and flushing wastes out of our bodies. It cushions our joints and soft tissues. Without water as a routine part of our intake, we cannot digest or absorb food.
