The video shows the fog rolling towards a boat belonging to Andrew Ballard and his father who were on a fishing trip on Platte Bay. The Detroit News reports that the men could not see well when enveloped in the fog and had to use GPS to find their way back to shore. Meteorologist Deb Elliott told the Detroit News that thick fog like this develops when "warm moist air moves over really cold lake water." This type of fog is known as advection fog.

I have no idea how long it lasted, no. Usually a few hours at least I would think. Fog can stick around stubbornly here too which I think has conditions pretty similar to Michigan. It's really cold and quiet inside those fog clouds damned.gif
