Ex-con saves baby on side of Georgia road, plays Gospel music to calm her
A Georgia man who served 10 years for manufacturing cocaine is being credited with saving a 15-month-old baby he found alongside a highway
"I had seen something out of the corner of my eye, and I thought it was a baby," he said. "I just stopped and, when I got out, there was a baby … almost in the highway."

Why do they feel the need to say he's an ex-con like that's the big story? He did what any good person would have done and kudos to him.

The poor dude held the baby for 2 hours while the cops tried to find out where the tot was from. Turns out it was a quarter of a mile away off past the woods off the highway ~ the "father" (picture of him is scary as hell, prolly a meth head) had left two other children in charge of the baby. He's now in jail. chuckle.gif

İmage

The baby had scratches and bug bites all over it. The 'ex-con' part wasn't mentioned in local stories, btw ~ and folks more or less regard him as a hero. He was a good man to comfort that baby for two hours while the cops did their thing.

You just can't take your eyes off young children for any length of time - they should know that.

In the local news that's not how it was portrayed. I'm sure he waited a bit for the cops' arrival, but it was a rural area (prolly not much access to the highway) and the story here was that it took a while to locate where the baby had come from.

I imagine they preferred that than taking the child into custody and also, they might have thought a parent was in trouble (injured, dead?) somewhere near by.
