I just felt like mentioning that I'm going back to college and that I managed to re-enroll myself in the nuclear program even though I'm unsure if I meet the actual prerequisites required for the classes I'm taking. It is always fun to go to a class and have little to no idea of what they are talking about when they get to certain topics.

To be honest, I kind of got into the program as a person joke or bet with myself since it was consider THE toughest degrees to go after and I wasn't sure I could even handle their intro classes. However it has been several classes later and I haven't burned out or been canned yet although I'm not really half through it yet either. uhoh.gif

Although if I survive this semester, I should be.

Thanks to everyone who replied and/or encouraged me. beercheer.gif

Sorry I haven't been posting online much since classes started but as you can imagine things have been fairly crazy and I also have been trying to deal with some paperwork required for my upcoming Social Security Disability hearing, which have been stressing me out in some ways even more than my classes have been. gaah.gif

..if I survive all this hopefully I will be able to be online and post more often.

I worked in a nuke plant for many years.  Most of the people with high paying jobs in the control room and such are former Navy nuclear sub guys.

I won't disagree.

At the college I'm going to a lot of the instructors seem to be guys taught about nuclear power from the local submarine schools; although there seems to be also a lot of kids who come from parents who worked in the industry and/or kids who just are good at science and math and want a really good paying job. My only fear is that I'm older (44 years old) and suffer from issues with chronic pain, which limits me from doing regular jobs where I have to 'hustle' a lot. Over the next couple of years I hope to survive on whatever money I can get from student loans, the state, SSI/SSD, and use the time to better myself so I'm able to do tasks which require less labor.

I don't know what my odds are but I don't want to become another couch potato which I see other do when they start living on a a income from other than working.
