I'm totally serious here - does anybody here need a free castle in Italy?

Quote:Why Italy is giving away 100 historic buildings for free

Italy is giving away more than 100 historic buildings - including castles, houses, and towers - in a bid to boost 'slow tourism' and tempt visitors away from the overcrowded city centres.

Old houses, inns, farmhouses, monasteries and ancient castles are all up for grabs - and you won’t have to pay a penny. In total, 103 sites are available, dotted across the country from north to south.

The only catch is that those who take up the offer will have to commit to restoring and transforming the sites into tourist facilities, such as hotels, restaurants, or spas.

Go figure. They can't even give away a castle in Italistan.

Is there any more info on this aside from a story that barely glosses over the subject?
So richly ambiguous and full of omissions. coffeetime.gif

chuckle.gif That was a little sparse of facts I guess. I have to run, but when I get back I'll look into it more and post what I find.

I know a guy who may be interested for real.
I see the dead line is June 26th, but I need to find a list and pics of the properties.

He's from the EU, and the refugees are in cities, not in rural areas.

A lot of that I'm certain. Where is the money coming from would be my first question. The amount it would take to renovate some old castle would be in the millions, add to that the skilled labor, and everything in between.
I know how expensive and what a headache it is just to remodel a kitchen.  gaah.gif
