Wow, great find! hi5.gif I'm not familiar with the markings on the bars, it appears as if it was poured into a mold...

İmage

The bar at the upper right looks suspiciously like the Hebrew letter h or Hey? Aside from the obvious V (5 in Roman numerals) and the apparent cross, there seems to be more unintelligible (due to blurry photos) markings on them as well.
I can't even make an educated guess, what's your take on it Rog?

Immediately was my first impression, with a copper content that high - it would be anything but shiny. Should have had the greenish oxidization... If I recall pattina? my bad spelling? my bad memory? lol - Can't find it... keep coming up with a village in Estonia. chuckle.gif

Here's another, not too long, story that was rather fun, IMO.

Quote: This treasure listed as 200,000 coin, 40 bars gold 2 lbs each, 1 cross 900 lbs gold.

Notice the 1 cross 900 lbs gold.

More stories. Te he he.

Quote: We have photographed and studied fifty different sites. They are all the same, and use the same system of signs and symbols. They use the complete alphabet, from A to Z, and each letter seems to have a number applied to it. The numbers used are from one to ninety-nine and each number represents some form of religious symbolism.

To chuckle.gif or not? That is the question.

chuckle.gif I'm pretty convinced they are phony. That's an awful long way around the barn for a spoof and a shot at your proverbial 15 minutes of fame.

If I was to take a guess, I would say the "V" may stand for 5 ounces, the cross is a mint mark, probably Vatican? I see "OG", which I would assume means "Ounces Gold".

So... V: + (OG) = 5 Ounces gold. The smaller bars would be one ounce Gold ingots. (Pieces of Eight? Yaarrr...) No need to state the weight as it may have been assumed?

That's my wild guess. I am most likely wrong. LOL
