INTROVERT

I am an introvert. At least in the meat world I am. Out here in the digital realm I'm an attention whore, but who isn't?

There, I said it.

And now that I know and can say it I'm trying to fix it.

FLAME ON!

Why label yourself with labels other people put on people? Is wanting to intelligently discuss news, conspiracy theories, or create art looking for attention? Or, are you just wired that way, having an active intellect, mind, and imagination and want to share it?

I put the label on myself. No one else said it but me.

I wanted to say it because I think I need to in order to get over it. And I think there may be other people out here on the woo-woo forums that have the same problem. Maybe this will help them too.

For me it isn't because of mental illness or anything like that. People stare at me wherever I am. After years and years it becomes suffocating. But now I am ready to deal with it again. I can't allow my looks to keep me locked up forever.

I'm not understanding what your definition of attention whore is? Can you elaborate a little for me?

Someone who seeks attention.

Perhaps the term is a bit strong for me. That is a label others applied. I guess I can't honestly say it's attention I am seeking. I've been seeking the company of like minded people.

Better?

I'm pretty much the same way in real life that I'm online. I don't have the time to pretend I'm something I'm not. Life's too short for such.

I don't look for attention, but if I have something to say, I'll say it....come hell or high water. I find there are very few like-minded individuals in my sphere of work, in particular, that want to discuss issues on a deeper level, but there are a few. My family and friends know to delve right into the heart of the matter and leave the BS behind.

Just the other day, a woman at work, who shares all of her very intimate personal life with me, told me that we think the same in regards to morals and ethics, and finding solutions to life's problems.

I don't do chit chat (superficiality; seems like such a waste of time), so I tend to be quiet (but I am far from introverted) and observe and listen. Actually, maybe this is why I attract all sorts of people who tell me their personal stuff - they think I'm a good listener and non-judgemental. chuckle.gif

Also, just this morning, I went to the lab to have blood taken for minor health tests. The lab tech says good morning, I reply good morning...then I prepare for the ordeal. She looks at my expression then asks, "Are you all right", I reply "I'm not into torture in the morning - why can't you just scan me and find out the results"...her face lights up...she replies "we're getting there", then she explains the new technologies relating to testing for diabetics...I reply "we should have that technology now". She smiles, we say our goodbyes. I think to myself on the way home, why not? let's invent Star Trek's medical tricorder now. That's how I am normally with interaction with others.

I think you didn't understand me. I've avoided being in public as much as possible for the last 8 years or so. It's because people stare at me endlessly wherever I go. Younger women in particular.

And because I had this other outlet, the internet, where I can meet and talk without the suffocating attention I get elsewhere. I can sympathize with those actors and other public figures who almost never go out in public and hide their faces when they do.

I've been trying to deal with it and am doing much better than I have in the past.

i love how you say how good looking you are Michael.. truly..

most really good looking people are insecure, oddly enough.. but your problem sounds like Body Dysmorphic Disorder.. BDD.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Body_dysmorphic_disorder a psychiatrist would diagnose you as that, its not like you have a physical defect as such, but your problem would fall into that category or disorder.. its very common, especially with people who have smoked a lot of pot.. ive known a few people with BDD.. a mild anti depressant would fix it..

im being 100% sincere in saying that.. you know i like you..

Me too. What you see is what you get. Don't like it? Leave.
