Life is like a penny, you can spend it on what you like, but you can ONLY spend it once.

This is an interesting topic, everyone should know the best ways to avoid a horrible... radiant death.

But this guy spent pages and pages going on about how aliens stole the bead out of his stupid necklace and gave it to the pope.

How can someone like that question the intelligence of anyone?

Here's some possibly useful stuff:

What to do if nuclear disaster is imminent
Nuclear war survival skills
You will survive doomsday
Survival under atomic attack
SFA Family Disaster Plan Guidebook

They're pdf files so feel free to download them. Here are some more guides and manuals: http://survivalisti.fi/index.php?option=...&Itemid=53

oh come on octo! we successfully derailed this thread and now you come up with that! xD

Sheltering in place is not always the best survival strategy after a nuclear detonation. If you can reach higher quality shelter in less than 30 minutes, you should go for it.

If out in the open, you need to find any shelter at all as quickly as possible.

Hmmmm...I'm 20 miles south of Seattle. Bangor Nuclear Submarine Base just north of Seattle will be a target. Fort Lewis AND McChord Air Force Base just south of Seattle will also be targets. This area will be lit up like a Christmas tree AND I'm not runnin anywhere. I have an old first baseman's mitt and a 15 year old bottle of Jack Daniels waiting to catch an errant missile OR a piece of comet/asteroid that comes my way. I'm way to lazy to live in a post apocalyptic world. And I've a feeling that many that talk a big survival game...will be dead in a few months AND it won't be pretty. Bring it on.

Quote:If your home is blasted by a nuclear bomb and most everyone you know dies or is at the very least severely mangled, you're going to need a drink. Honestly, you'll going to need many drinks. The good news is, no matter how many loved ones are obliterated, your beer is still safe.

The article mentioned buds and skunked. I had to remind myself that they were talkin about beer. Also...if I survive a nuclear blast...it better be some real potent beer over 10% and not some watery light crap. That's why I've saved my Jack Daniels for so long and will be drinking before it hits...as long as I'm home I guess. If not...I'll just have to hit the first store I come by with hard liquor and nowadays that's everywhere around here.

A good collection of reading material there! Very informative.

If I've done all this research, and then a nuke lands on my house I'll be pissed. Well... I won't, but you know...
