Intel's massive 18-core Core i9 chip

The Core i9 Extreme Edition i9-7980XE, what Intel calls the first teraflop desktop PC processor ever, will be priced at (gulp!) $1,999 when it ships later this year.

The processors will require a motherboard with the LGA 2066 Socket (called R4) and the X299 chipset, which is part of the Basin Falls platform.

Yes Im going to wait a while too. I want to see some verified buyers reviews on this one, especially on Heating problems. I was just getting ready to buy a new Motherboard, but I think hold off for a while on that as well.

One of the advantages of this Release is the I-7 prices should come down. They are real good but overpriced as well.

I'm not running anything that can use higher than an I-5. Software taking advantage of this could be a wait.
