Octo and her parents and kids speak Swedish. I speak English with her and the kids (they are technically adults) and Swedish with her Parents.
I'm not around Finnish, and have no desire to learn it. It's as complex to learn as Japanese. We don't plan on staying here, so Finnish is not even an option.
By learning some Swedish I can also read and understand Danish, Norwegian, and German.
By learning Finnish I would understand nothing else - it doesn't cross over less some small amounts of Estonian and Hungarian.
If all of language was your arm from the shoulder to the finger tip, Finnish would be less than the size of the tip of your pinky.
