What !!!!

How can you have 20 posts before you can post a thread?

Is it kinda like credit? You got to have credit before you can get credit. But if you don't have credit you can not get credit?

So

If ATS you got have posts before you make a post but if you don't have any posts you can not post ?

My ban seems to have been upgraded, I was put on read only for criticising Fertility Worship Day, but after being off-line most of the day, I've now been upgraded to a complete ban, can't even read teh site. eh, I think I'm over conspiracy and the merchandising of fear.

They want you to worship the allowed posters 20x before you post your own thread to be worshipped. On YOUR knees! :worship:

Ah the ugly face of pseudo Christianity, where it warmly meets and greets paganism - fertility worship. No wonder it pisses so many people off.

The changes in how those forums are run is a very serious concern.. and should be for any conspiracy nut.

Something is afoot and it is being ignored by seemingly everyone.

Well, it's not that bad. I did my 20 posts lickety split by getting involved in one thread...I believe they call it contributing in a meaningful way.

I was at ATS years ago. That place went downhill fast too.

I went back under a different name like a year ago, mostly for information. Went out of my way to play nice and still got perma-banned again. Like I said, I just wanted to keep an account open there to make an occasional post or whatever. But holy crap, they are full on Nazis there. I got banned for posting a link to a blog they said was mine. I was like, "so what if it was my blog? I can't reference my own material?" It wasn't even my blog anyway though.

Every single forum I have ever been a regular at has had this trend where the repression of free speech gets more and more severe, to the point where it becomes a chore to NOT get banned, even when you are trying your best to conform to their standards.

Get a load of this self praising claptrap from a certain 'Monk' at the 'pay us to unban you' site - unbelievable.

facepalm_panda.gif

You know it's been an interesting life lesson running this website over the years..

What I've come to learn is free speech comes at a cost...

Anonymity causes people feel they are unaccountable for what they say. Which on one hand is good because they should not be forced to curtail their thoughts or speech based on the fear of reprisal but on the other hand it's bad because people turn into horrible monsters when they are not held accountable for their actions in a physical setting.

Right now I practice the free speech via censorship model whereas we will ban certain posters who cross a moral or legal line on this website. That line can often be vague and subjective to the discernment of the moderator on duty but is necessary to provide a stable environment in which to facilitate the free flow of information..

Using this method allows a certain level of anonymity to remain for the rest of the crowd while laying the role of accountability enforcer on the powers that be so to speak.

But their is another method I call Free Speech Via Full Accountability..

In this method of information management we require real identities from everyone who contributes thus making them accountable for their actions in the real world.

This is the method that ALL main stream internet sites are moving towards. Just look at Google, Facebook, Etc.. They are all about having you login to a primary account and tracking everything you do back to that account linked to your real, verified, identity. It's happening at the ISP level now as they keep logs on ALL the websites you visit / connections you make FOREVER now. Thus the rise in popularity of proxy and VPN services as of late.

Now your anarchist types will argue that pure free speech doesn't need to be managed but the problem with pure chaos is in order to gain anything useful out of it one must provide some ORDER and STRUCTURE to it...

Such is the way of things.. I'm sure many of you have been to irc channels and other sites that lean toward a pure chaos policy and you soon find yourself off in some corner with a "group" where some shelter from the chaos can be found..

Life starts in the chaos but persists in the order.. Both are necessary but we're concerned with our little island in the sea of chaos here, which requires some order and structure to exist.

You'll notice GLP is perhaps the only major forum on the internet that allows anonymous posting without registering an account.. I think this gives the site a certain dynamic edge that you lose when you go to a registered posters only type site...

This site becomes a great burden to manage when you throw organized shilling into the mix. Organized shilling by governments or corporations is on the rise. Fake IP addresses are ever more abundant.

Further, these groups are now willing to perform DDOS attacks and hacking attacks to destroy a medium of free speech such as this rather than attempt to control it.

It really bothers me on a personal level when I see REAL SHILLING going on. You guys can't see it as much because you can't see the IP addresses / network hosts that are making the posts, but from this side it's perfectly clear and it pisses me off.

To think that a corporation or government entity would stoop to the level of infiltrating a message board such as this and attempt to sway public opinion by making shill posts is inherently wrong.

It's subversion in the worst way. It should be illegal, PERIOD. A government or corporation should be forced to identify itself as such if it's going to pass itself off as a "citizen".

The trickery and psychological subversion we've allowed to be born from the "advertising industry" has now taken firm root in government and all forms of big business. It seems as if there are no "honest men" left.

Unfair manipulation of information and conversation really pisses me off and the only way I know to fight it is to censor it, make it as difficult as possible for the manipulators to do their job.

But to do it I myself have to become a manipulator.

It's a vicious circle and when I see the hordes of morons on the shores I sometimes ask myself, is it worth it?

At the end of the day as much as I try to get out from underneath this forum the universe doesn't seem to be done with me here yet.

I keep getting a whisper back that is telling me when you took this job you agreed to do it for as long as you could...

Guess I'm not quite there yet...

But the environment is changing and changing fast.

It becomes more and more dangerous to me on a personal level to be associated with this website.

That being said I'm pretty much satisfied in my understanding and mastery of the game of life at this point whose objective once won becomes to save as many as you can....

But I can understand the need to refrain from stupid forum wars too.

I was reading somewhere on the internet about a person who said they recently signed up to post at ats and started a thread called "the conspiracy against god" to see what would happen and he or she was instantly banned...

So much for open minded thoughts and expressions and our freedom of speech...
