I have to take Mason out for a walk, and I'm dreading it. It takes me longer to put on my spacesuit than it does for him to empty his bladder and manufacture tootsie rolls. beerbong.gif

You're just like one of the characters in an enormously iconic Finnish series of children's books!
Check out the guy with the flute in the tree in the top right corner.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snufkin

Quote:Snufkin is a character in the Moomin series of books authored by Swedish-speaking Finn Tove Jansson, appearing in six of the nine books. He is the best friend of the series' protagonist, Moomintroll, and lives a nomadic lifestyle, only staying in Moominvalley in the spring and summer, but leaving for warmer climates down south every winter.

Snufkin wears old green clothes and a wide brimmed hat he has had since birth. He lives in a tent, smokes a pipe and plays the harmonica. Snufkin also has a great dislike for authority figures such as the Park Keeper, and the many regulation signs and fences he erects.

Snufkin prefers freely-growing foliage to fenced-in lawns. Snufkin keeps as few worldly possessions as possible, seeing them as a burden, and being happier keeping the memory of a thing than the thing itself.

damned.gif Wow! In Florida I've seen those kind of differences, I've had it rain on half the car and sun on the other, had 10 minute drives where the temp goes up 15 degrees, but as far North as you are Shadow, that's kinda' weird.

It is weird. It was odd at work on friday too, the other side of the valley was +6 and the N end -6 and bitter wind. We could actually feel the shift from N wind to mild and see the frost line.

Crazy! damned.gif They say the blizzard that passed south of here was unusual in that it came from the east which is not very common. 13.gif

Quote:According to Hellinen, [the storm] Antti’s behaviour was not entirely characteristic of most blizzards passing through Finland.

“The wind direction for example,” he noted. “Generally storm winds blow from the southwest, but this time it came from the east,” he explained.

“We feared that this could affect trees in particular, because they are not, in a way, “accustomed” to winds from the east,” Hellinen added.

It's -15C right now and it's going to stay cold.
