Really been under the weather, it started on the plane trip back from Spain and by the time I hit Helsinki I was feverish and sweating like crazy...
Went from 20 (70f) to - 20 (-4f) with a stiff wind, not really dressed for it and soaking wet, the sledgehammer hit the next day, like a fish out of water I couldn't breathe out of my nose and barely through the lungs.
Finally went to ER after a couple days of suffering and got all kinds of meds... cough was so bad I was prescribed morphine based cough medicine  damned.gif
Never been so ill as I have this winter, looking forward to spring!

I know the feeling, well not me per se, my sister. She just can't shake an upper respiratory infection with fever and it's been off and on for a while now. So back to the doc for her and she said she will ask for codeine based cough medicine, but I never heard of morphine based cough medicine.

BTW, colds aren't usually associated with a fever. Was the cold diagnosis confirmed by a test?

Planes are notorious for bringing on illness these days since they are filled with a high level of electronics plus they are a metal tube which intensifies the milieu. The good news is you didn't get the other disease that electrified tubes produce: going batshit crazy and screaming "We're all going to die!!" I have that one as you can tell from my posts.

Low grade fever is associated with cold virus infections. His CRP was <10. And as you may also have suspected we were on the same plane.

Difference? I was in my down coat when we arrived from Spain. It was cold af.

Glad to hear Jay's CRP was below 10! Long live the king (of rock and roll and stand up comedy.) Colds are viruses, too, by the way.

Hey how come you didn't pull a "Sir Walter Raleigh" and lay your coat down on the snow so that Jay wouldn't get his tootsies wet? chuckle.gif

I am reading where it is proposed that changes in temperature affects the immune system and where cold weather and body pH levels (more alkaline) causes the immune system to weaken. I am also reading where being indoors and closed spaces allow diseases to flourish. And I have also read where the inside of planes are extremely dirty and not disinfected.

Those are the beliefs of the present day, aren't they!

Planes are no dirtier than anywhere else most likely.  Do you suppose grocery store shelves get wiped down? Wouldn't that make everyone sick if contact with germs were the cause of the flu, colds, etc? What about gas stations where folks pump gas? Did you get sick when you filled your car up?

There is nothing more nonsensical that the collective hypnotic belief that is printed in every doggone article about flu prevention than the fantasy notion that the flu is caused by touching things. Why don't I get sick when I hug people with the flu?

The reason planes promote colds and flu, along with psychotic breakdowns is due to a combination of ultrahigh electronics in close quarters and the 360 degree metal tube of the plane itself that pings the harmful ions all over the place. Those ions lower the passengers' cell voltage, so they are more likely to get sick or go crazy.

Yale researchers studying the rhinovirus — the common cold virus — have found a link between temperature and our body’s ability to fight a cold. The colder we get, the easier it is for the rhinovirus to trounce us into sniffling, sneezing defeat.

The findings, published Tuesday in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, indicate that exposure to cold air might lower our bodies’ ability to fight the common cold. And while most of us can power through a cold, people with respiratory issues or impaired immune systems may have a harder time fighting off the virus.

If that's true, you guys keep warm as best you can. I'm really cold lately, so I may be next and I won't be eating any bugs, it's homemade chicken soap all the way.
