"Until the last syllable of recorded time, the world will remember and history will judge Member States that are allowing the atrocities to continue."

It's pointing fingers time. (rollseyes)

Quote:

On Wednesday, British Prime Minister David Cameron angered Moscow by declaring in front of the United Nations that the failure to act had left the United Nations stained by the “blood of these young children” slain in Syria.

Quote:the failure to act

I guess act in that context would be to invade and kill some more people? 15.gif

Quote: Of course, what other measures could be taken? Acltually, what alternative measures have China and Russia offered?
At a meeting on Syria in Geneva on June 30, foreign ministers from UN Security Council permanent member states and from countries neighboring Syria proposed establishing a transitional Syrian government that would comprise both the Syrian authorities and opposition forces.

It's obviously an unreasonable, unattainable agreement.

It's not like the West is helping Al Qu...er..."the rebels" in Syria already. They just want troops on the ground and Russia and China say have repeatedly said ğck you.
They have strategic interests in Iran and Syria, and the west obviously wants that and resources for their own exploitation.
Make no mistake neither side gives a shït about human rights or peoples lives, they just want the resources and strategic locations for themselves.
This is the type of scenario world wars are fought over.

I so often hope I'm not, like in this instance. However time keeps playing things out to the point where I'm proven correct way too often.
Don't get me wrong, I think people are inherently good - It's just all that money.. and absolute power, or the illusion thereof; corrupt absolutely.
I've come to expect the worst and I'm rarely disappointed. I am VERY disappointed in the nature of those running this big bus with nobody behind the wheel. gaah.gif

Quote:Canada's relatively low-ranking speaking slot can be explained partly by Prime Minister Stephen Harper's decision not to address the gathering this year, as other country's leaders have done, the CBC's David Common suggests.

Stephen Harper has spoken to the assembly only twice during his time as prime minister. He travelled to New York last week to accept an award and meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, but he's left the official speaking duties to Baird.

Of course he couldn't speak at the UN being Statesman of the year and all. scream.gif

How charming. damned.gif

Quote:"Prime Minister Harper has played a very important role by developing his own views, having the courage to affirm them, even when they are not shared by all the consensuses that exist, and being proved correct by events," Kissinger said.
