Psychedelic drugs may help alleviate symptoms of depression, scientists suggest

Quote:The Beatles wrote songs about them and Aldous Huxley said they could be “extremely good for anybody with fixed ideas”. Now scientists are beginning to understand exactly what happens to our brain under the influence of psychedelic drugs, revealing intriguing insights into their well-observed link to creativity.

In a new analysis of a study which saw 15 volunteers undergo magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans while under the influence of psilocybin, the active ingredient of magic mushrooms, scientists have discovered that the patterns of activity seen in their brains bore “fascinating” similarities to those seen when dreaming.

The researchers found that while activity in parts of the brain responsible for high level thinking such as planning and analysing was “disjointed and uncoordinated”, activity in more primitive areas of the brain associated with emotional thinking was much more pronounced.

They also saw that different areas of the brain were able to communicate in “novel” ways, giving the study volunteers a much larger range of potential brain states: something the researchers said could be a physical counterpart to the sensation of “mind expansion” often reported by users of psychedelics such as magic mushrooms, LSD and mescaline.

did it a lot when i was late teens, cause it was cheap.. never liked going out on it and partying, preferred to hang out at someones house and eat strawberry lollies (candy) and watch ƒükkêd up twisted cartoons or john waters films.. it was always fun for the first 5 hours then you just wanted it to end and it wouldnt.. would never do it again.. better stuff out there..

major paranoia..

Quote:“LSD was the last of the drugs to re-enter the lab, because it’s the quintessential symbol of the '60s. So our ability to do this study and the publication of the article in The New York Times is the culmination of the end of the suppression of psychedelic research,” Doblin told HuffPost.

And, so, yet another taboo drug comes to the forefront of positive medical benefit to us.

Definitely US, but I don't like the thought of taking a lab made "drug" when mother nature provides it. There's a spiritual connection to the earth and also special if you pick the shrooms yourself. Just my opinion of course.

wave.gif Octo. The scientists' lab concoction delivers the same results as does the natural way, so, hey, I'm good either way. chuckle.gif

Her words and her actions look and sound suspiciously quite normal for someone whos supposedly tripping on real LSD...

But anyways like what strange and fascinating and disturbing footage...

I suppose this test subject just happened to be a she who just happened to be young and beautiful just by chance a mere accidental coincidence...

I can only imagine what was done and filmed and not publicly shown...

If they gave real LSD to a maniac without knowing that person was a deranged lunatic that doctor and camera operator and lighting and sound technicians would have probably been attacked and maybe even killed on the spot...
