Leading Paki PM Candidate Vows to Shoot Down US Drones If Elected

In the lead up to Pakistan's general election, which will take place on May 11, the former cricket star-turned-politician Imran Khan has again vowed to shoot down American drones if elected. Speaking at a rally in Swabi in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Khan, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman said that if U.S. drones entered Pakistani airspace, he would order the Pakistani Air Force (PAF) to shoot them down. And given that most recent polls show Khan ahead of Nawaz Sharif, president of the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) (previously thought to be the favorite) there is a very real chance that Khan will become Prime Minister.

Khan's vow may come as a shock to some, but opposition to America's drone war in Pakistan, which has been going on since 2004, has grown increasingly strong in recent years. Drone strikes have increased dramatically under President Obama, and while Pakistan has always been publicly opposed to attacks conducted by the CIA, the possibility of a prime minister who has promised to shoot down the drones could make things very awkward for the U.S.

Maybe that will be enough to make it stop. And maybe it's part of a larger plan to help get this man elected. "They" may have him in their pocket. I've thought so myself from a few things he said months ago and the way the western media has portrayed him.

That is actually a very good way to get votes, by appealing to the hate and prejudice of the people.

I think the drone strikes in Pakistan are already causing plenty of hate. sad2.gif

Quote:A Pakistani court has declared that US drone strikes in the country's tribal belt are illegal and has directed the government to move a resolution against the attacks in the United Nations.

In what activists said was an historic decision, the Peshawar High Court issued the verdict against the strikes by CIA-operated spy planes in response to four petitions that contended the attacks killed civilians and caused “collateral damage”.

NO DRONES!

One Week in the Hospital for You...

The US diplomacy, namely CIA covert ops, have destroyed relations with Pakistan. The geopolitical implications are huge. They will push back against any cooperation against Iran in the future imo.

The US has no business playing Judge effin' Dread over there. Screw that killing innocent people like they did in Bengazi. In one place the the goddamn redneck can't kill enough people, then when our own are in danger he says stand down. rofl.gif
Leaders lead by example, never seen one single instance where he does that.
In all fairness, he's a decent golfer. lmao.gif

Disliking the slaughter of civilians by a foreign nation you have never harmed is "hate and predjudice"???
If China should just decide to start dropping bombs on Canada, would electing someone who STOPS THEM be considered hatefull and predjudice?
I can't believe I'd vote for someone who DIDN'T promise to stop it!!!

Quote:Despite claims from the administration that drone strikes have killed very few civilians, multiple independent reports confirm that Obama is severely downplaying the wreckage that these drone strikes inflict. It is ultimately impossible to get exact numbers, but a new study from Columbia Law School’s Human Rights Institute finds that the number of Pakistani civilians killed in drone strikes are “significantly and consistently underestimated” by tracking organizations which are trying to take the place of government estimates on casualties.

There are estimates as high as 98% of drone strike casualties being civilians

http://www.policymic.com/articles/16949/...ne-warfare

And given that mr. obama redefined 'terrorist' as "someone caught standing close to where a bomb goes off" chances are 100 % civilian casualties.

Yeah I'd vote for the guy hi5.gif that's not hate and predjudice to want the bombs to stop dropping!

I believe she was saying that the US drone strikes caused hate and prejudice in the Paki people and the Candidate is appealing to that hate with this recent statement.
