Well as you all know I have not been around for a few months. No, disasters just I needed to take a break from it all.

This video is for all of you to think about.

Life is like a penny, you can spend it on what you like, but you can ONLY spend it once.

It's good to see you back though cheers.gif But I agree with the video, social media is very anti-social. It's changed society very quickly damned.gif

It started with the cell phones 13.gif Suddenly people started to think it was ok to take a phone call in the middle of a face to face conversation. That's just rude, unless it's important (which it doesn't seem to be 99.9% of the time).

Weird times 13.gif We used to hang out downtown to meet people when I was young. Now the town is dead at nights. Days too actually chuckle.gif

That's true to an extent. Just recently a lady I met through a past job dropped off the usual online social media scene where we would keep in touch - as she had moved quite a distance away from my City.

So when I recently joined LinkedIn, I looked her up and lo and behold there she was with one update as to what she was doing with her life - she was back in my area for personal reasons. So I sent a LinkedIn invite and asked her to phone me, which she did and we got together for a wonderful "catch up".

I got the impression that she may prefer to be isolated, maybe because she is grieving the loss of her pets who died recently, or the recent death of her estranged husband/friend, or some of the failed relationships in her life - which may be due to her conspiracy-minded ways.

In any event, we met a few times while she was here in my City and reconnected and strengthened our friendship and she said she felt much better after discussing matters with me.

She and her animals have now left my City and gone back to her farm - which is very much isolated. But, now I have no qualms about phoning her and getting an invite to visit her and stay there awhile with her.

But for the LinkedIn connection, we may never have reconnected again.

hug.gif to Octo. Exactly, I don't know about anyone else, but you guys certainly do fill some empty places that other people in my life don't want to go - like hubby. He has absoloutely no interest in discussing conspiracy theories, cooking, gardening...etc. - in depth discussions. You get where I'm going. I've just recently, after 31 yrs. of marriage, got him thinking about looking up in the sky for UFOs. chuckle.gif

chuckle.gif I think it's a good thing the world got a whole lot smaller with the internet. Ok, kritterbox is something totally different than social media though.

It started with the Walkman, where a person could be completely isolated in a crowded room.

There's plenty of room for all God's creatures. Right next to the mashed potatoes!

Who knows what the future holds for us via this social medium, but all I know is that my children are just a click away when I want to communicate with them.

Kind of interesting, nah, fascinating even, to see a whole town
go semi-autistic, yes.

I quit carrying around my 45€ Nokia from 2004.
Won't replace it when/if it dies.

The (anti-)social media mass hypnosis will have all sorts of
not-yet-seen effects, I'm sure.

Social media... 13.gif I spent 14 hours yesterday making custom social media buttons, because the regular ones suck ass and are sometimes unreadable from mobile devices.
From a developers view, Jezuez...
It could not be more complex.
The way the current system is, if you own a website, you are forced into social media, or you can watch you website go down in terms of rank incrementally.
Old timers can chuckle now at what I said, but...
Just wait till the next round of SEO's when Google lops peoples ratings in half because there is no mobile version of their website, or their current one is not responsive.
You would not believe the hoops I've been jumping through for the last couple weeks, as a result of coding 15+ hours a day, I've been pretty scarce around here. coffeetime.gif
Fekk.
