Look at this doomilicious trend

According to Dr. Joseph Mercola's website: "Over the course of a lifetime, the average person may be prescribed 14,000 pills (this doesn’t even include over-the-counter meds), and by the time you reach your 70s you could be taking five or more pills every day, according to Pill Poppers, a documentary."

The focus of this thread is what the trend will be for today's youth. According to the Wall Street Journal a year ago December, 30% of today's American teens were taking at least one prescription drug long term. Fifty percent are taking two or more.

I wonder how long it will take today's teens to be averaging 5 prescribed drugs a day?

Let's say it takes 20 years to get to 5 drugs. That puts the teens at about 33 to 38 years old.

Will they be about as sick as the average 70 year old is today?

That is a shockingly doomy picture. damned.gif

yup.gif And to compound things, you've got 5 or 10 chemicals you're putting in your body with no studies on how they interact with one another.
This scam is not much different than blood letting.

It's very disturbing. There was a case in Sweden a few years back where a woman in her 60s was in a vegetative state for years. When she started to fade away they took her off her meds (god knows how many). She didn't die, she woke up and was perfectly fine. damned.gif

She died a couple of years back, but she lived several years after waking up from the drug fueled state, feeling they had stolen her life.

Don't know how it is in Sweden, but here in the US a significant part of the elderly population require a lot of care. Of course they are on multiple drugs. They need social workers, food delivery, housekeeping, and of course a variety of appointments with doctors, physical therapists, etc.

We spend over 16% of our private economy on medical care. That doesn't count the housekeepers, etc. It's the seniors who are getting much of the care.

Fast forward 20 years. What happens if the middle aged people who are just 30 or 40 start needing care sort of like the seniors of today do?

This level of care nor anything close to it just can't be sustained.

Personally, I use natural remedies, but the vast majority are still stuck in the prescription drug mentality. Unless there is a big change real fast, bigger and bigger trouble is head our way with each additional pill that is taken each day.

IOW, we won't need to wait 20 years for the doom. A year from now, the situation will be worse than it is today. The year after that it is likely to be even worse, and so on year after year, and day after day.

Now that is a telling story! She had been medicated into oblivion only to recover when her medicines were stopped!

It makes you wonder how many people right this moment in comas in nursing homes could wake up if they weren't blitzed out of their minds from the drugs they are given.

I'm not sure how things are in Sweden either in that regard, but I'm sure it's pretty close to our conditions. I'm sure old people in care are drugged to not be a hassle to the staff. sad2.gif

I know only of my own 98 y/o Grammy living in an old folks home, she's sharp as ever though and lives in her own apartment and gets food and care as she needs it. She has her own kitchen and all so she can make it herself if she wants to. For that sort of thing you pay a certain amount per month depending on your income, as so many other things work around here.

But back to the drugging of young people, that's quite disturbing. I believe in personal responsibility and don't trust Big Pharma to do anything but drug me if I do need help at some point.

Stay healthy my friends.

Oh sorry, you're in Finland not Sweden. Oops! gaah.gif

Yeah the trend here is real. It's mind boggling that 3 out of every ten teens in the US is taking one or more drugs. It won't be long before they are on two or three. Some already are.

Some of them are dying, too. Especially the gals who get the cervical cancer vaccine (Guardasil?). Some of them react very badly especially after the third shot. They get sicker and sicker and some die within a few years.

No worries. My native lingo is Swedish as is some 6 per cent of the population. Finland is officially a bilingual country. Linus Torvalds is another one from this little heard of minority.

But there has been an incredible increase in prescription meds for kids over here too this past decade. Let me dig up some stats...

Unfortunately parenting went out of style.

Even when you preach to what appears at the time to be deaf ears they soak it up.
My kids are smart and healthy kids because I didn't care if they didn't like me, you just need to teach them what you learned so they can build on that and outsmart you. That's evolution.

I read a fresh article just the other day about this, but I can't find it right now. Meanwhile, a 5 year old article:

Quote:Record Number of Finns on Antidepressants

Some 400,000 Finns are on antidepressants. The use of antidepressants grew by ten percent last year compared to 2006, finds a preliminary report by the National Agency for Medicines.

A 10% increase in one year! Maybe Finland will be joining the US swirling down like sink water back to the rendering plant.
