Try clearing your cookies, it's probably remembering your old username.

If clearing your cookies doesn't cut it, try some pot brownies. That way, you are not so likey to recall what it was you were attempting to accomplish in the first place. chuckle.gif

Why can't we just ignore the thread topics we are not interested in and move along?

Good question, really. hmm.gif

In this case:

I don't know...guess the enormity and extreme simplicity
of religion (although subparameters may be very complex,
like the bible) as a mass mind control system intrigues me.

What would be among the first things I'd do, if I wanted
to enslave the world?

- Make sure the underclasses are convinced that there is
absolutely no way for them to interpret their own spirituality
without my priests - who would link it all to the mundane.

Infiltrate the individual, so to speak. On a very basic level.

Having half the planet bowing down before "YHWH" of
distant desert goat shepherd people is just...so fekkin'
unbelievably mind boggling. Especially nowadays, when
they don't draw, quarter and burn you anymore for realizing
the obvious. (Or, if you were a woman, for getting pregnant
with the wrong priest's/nobleman's child. Witch! Witch!!)

And, of course, the total absurdity of tiny, insignificant Palestine
still being an effective political lever to shift the entire world....
again and again and then some. "Israel", indeed. Just imagine
billions of people worshiping Finland, the Kalevala and Ilmatar..!

chuckle.gif

What in the depths of hell is it, that makes people think any
one deity would be more real than any other? blink.gif As if there
was anything wrong or stupid with their own ancestral heritage.

I just have to poke it with a stick.
Every now and then.
But not nearly as much now as used to in the past.

That I have no patience for.

That was not so funny.

D'accord.
It does get rather tedious.

It seems to me that many of the religious threads are those same programmed people wanting to discuss their beliefs with others, for a deeper understanding of the written word, which, from what I can determine, has deeper meanings (as with Jesus' teachings).

In the past, yes, people could not read the bible for themselves (I believe the pions were not taught to read or the bibles were printed in another language), so people had to be led by religious leaders (and political leaders for that matter). Once the underground printed and translated bibles for the masses, then the power of the leaders was challenged and their interpretations as well.

Theologians, today, still argue as to interpretation of the written word, but I welcome that because to me it is exploration, clarification, and perhaps a deeper understanding of the human nature within the bible and doctrine.

Now, if one is to argue the existence of God, either spiritually or cosmologically speaking, then I'm up for that, and then I would welcome further discussion and exploration into this existence, reality...whatever this is.

Well, the Saami had noitas (shamans) who turned themselves
into polar foxes, eagles, reindeer and what have you - right in
front of their adepts' eyes. Who would walk on water if you
could fly over it..?

chuckle.gif

And the Sampo churned out free gold and happiness to the pure
of heart. Beats loaves and fishes, hands down.
