Telling them that every deity ever worshiped by 1 or more
humans is equally real/false is like poking an anthill with
a stick.

Was good enough for a laugh every now and then for a
few years, though. When there were slow news days and
such...

I used to laugh at some of it on occasion, but there has been times when the magnitude of religious threads on the main forum almost seemed as if they were purposely trying to take over with spam, like a planned attack.

That I have no patience for.

That was not so funny.

Reading your garbage is not funny either. Something I have no patience for. What are you going to do about it?

I think they are the reason that other site drowned.

Why can't we just ignore the thread topics we are not interested in and move along?

Good question, really. hmm.gif

In this case:

I don't know...guess the enormity and extreme simplicity
of religion (although subparameters may be very complex,
like the bible) as a mass mind control system intrigues me.

What would be among the first things I'd do, if I wanted
to enslave the world?

- Make sure the underclasses are convinced that there is
absolutely no way for them to interpret their own spirituality
without my priests - who would link it all to the mundane.

Infiltrate the individual, so to speak. On a very basic level.

Having half the planet bowing down before "YHWH" of
distant desert goat shepherd people is just...so fekkin'
unbelievably mind boggling. Especially nowadays, when
they don't draw, quarter and burn you anymore for realizing
the obvious. (Or, if you were a woman, for getting pregnant
with the wrong priest's/nobleman's child. Witch! Witch!!)

And, of course, the total absurdity of tiny, insignificant Palestine
still being an effective political lever to shift the entire world....
again and again and then some. "Israel", indeed. Just imagine
billions of people worshiping Finland, the Kalevala and Ilmatar..!

chuckle.gif

What in the depths of hell is it, that makes people think any
one deity would be more real than any other? blink.gif As if there
was anything wrong or stupid with their own ancestral heritage.

I just have to poke it with a stick.
Every now and then.
But not nearly as much now as used to in the past.

It seems to me that many of the religious threads are those same programmed people wanting to discuss their beliefs with others, for a deeper understanding of the written word, which, from what I can determine, has deeper meanings (as with Jesus' teachings).

In the past, yes, people could not read the bible for themselves (I believe the pions were not taught to read or the bibles were printed in another language), so people had to be led by religious leaders (and political leaders for that matter). Once the underground printed and translated bibles for the masses, then the power of the leaders was challenged and their interpretations as well.

Theologians, today, still argue as to interpretation of the written word, but I welcome that because to me it is exploration, clarification, and perhaps a deeper understanding of the human nature within the bible and doctrine.

Now, if one is to argue the existence of God, either spiritually or cosmologically speaking, then I'm up for that, and then I would welcome further discussion and exploration into this existence, reality...whatever this is.

I am glad you gave me an out. There for awhile, I though I was a goner.

Here was your previous quote. Sorry for the snip:

Religion can contain a road map so they we are not under mass mind control.

I am not sure I understand your statement, the only spiritual authority of any consequence is my own.

You like it just the way it is because you are weak.

You are weak for focusing all your life energies into one fairy tale book of ancient past.

I am strong by making an effort to learn about all facets of life by traveling the world with very little money, being a minimalist, refusing to be part of any system or agenda.
