Treasure hunters challenge FBI over dig for Civil War gold
Basically, this father and son spent years combing the woods outside of Dents Run, Pa. They located a big chunk of what their instruments read as gold. The FBI had one of their contractors go in with his gear to confirm it. The BI finally went in with the two men and equipment to dig it up. This is where it went screwy. They made the pair wait in a car down the road while they dug. (The agreement was that they could watch.) They stopped digging about 3 feet short of the gold and showed the men the hole. They told the men it was cold and they were leaving but would come back the next day. They all went back the next day and the men were made to sit in the car again. After a while they were taken back to the hole and shown that it was empty.
Of course the story doesn't end there. A woman who lives nearby was pissed because the FBI had gone back that evening, lit the area up with lights and ran their equipment until 2am keeping her up when she had to get up early the next morning. Another woman who was waiting to put her kids on the school bus said about seven black SUV's and two armored trucks went by and backed up to the area where something was being transferred from ATV's to the trucks and SUV's. They had also closed the road to all traffic while they did this.
The FBI claimed nothing was there but has classified all documents related to the incident. They claimed the activity was related to an ongoing investigation.
By claiming nothing was found they have avoided going to court and having to share. This was Federal gold on state land and the two men would get a cut.
Still trust the Untouchables?
What politics from both sides wants to teach us is that things are never complex. If you have your little package and something doesn't fit into that package, You don't know what to make of it so you want to dismiss it or then you will have to do the work of reconsidering your assumptions. - Michael Malice
