Powerful nor'easter winter storm bears down on East Coast still reeling from Sandy’s devastation

A powerful new storm system is preparing to batter the East Coast next week, even as millions are still reeling from the devastation left by Superstorm Sandy.

The nor’easter storm will bring snow and strong winter winds beginning Tuesday, Election Day, until Thursday.

Most of the severe weather will hit northern New England – hundreds of miles north of where Sandy made landfall.

I'm local to the situation. It's not martial law. There are NYS Guardsman on patrol to prevent looting there. Long Beach is a disaster zone.

More info, from my perspective. Gas is actually the cheapest it's been in the last 3 months. Stations did run out in the last 24 hours, but the pipeline was turned back on today, stations should all have gas within 24-48 hours. Plenty of food at the store nears me. Plenty of biere. Power is coming back, my office got power restored today.

Dumbest thing going on now is the diversion of support to the NYC Marathon, instead of places like Staten Island, and downtown NYC.

Local towns have down a good job at providing shelter at local schools. I have not seen any FEMA idiots anywhere, all the resources appear to be local.

It's kinda funny and sad. I read all this stuff about FEMA in action, but they don't do shït. All the relief effort I see is being done by local towns and agencies.

Amazing, and a huge budget with which to do nothing.

I bought about 40 gallons of gasoline near the cottage, had 1 car in front of me.(90 miles from Times Square).
The closer I got to NYC, the lines stretched for blocks, then miles.
I cannot help but to think that the rigid mindset of these people, not thinking of driving an extra 15 miles to get fuel fast, is partly to blame. They waste more gas waiting for 2-3 hours in line, than if they went a little further away from the "lines of drift".

There's plenty of room for all God's creatures. Right next to the mashed potatoes!
