Jeesh, CA,

Fer cryin' outloud ~ just burn a copy (or borrow one, in your case, would take until Christmas on the laptop) of Linux and lose the Windoze.

(I'd recommend LXLE.)

I guess 8 minutes is a major (cough-cough...) improvement over hours. I'm just sayin' Linux will load in under 30 seconds.

If you can run Win 7 you can run Linux Mint or LXLE. You'll prolly ENJOY it a helluva lot more rather than enduring the time lags due to resource hogging and bullshit registry morphing.

Thing is you will actually be able to use your pc to compute rather than eternally babysitting and wrestling with the damn OS ~ which is after all, only a guest piece of software.

Regardless, good luck with your rocket! chuckle.gif

For most people Windows is such overkill, but Linux scares people for whatever reason, though if you have them a day on it they usually find it easier than Windows.
The only thing is setup, sure, you can get Linux to work on anything, and far batter than Windows...but certain graphics cards and Wi-Fi require some finagling, and the minute they have to type sudo apt get... it's getting Windows reinstalled on it. chuckle.gif
