My dad (84) got a new pacemaker a couple of weeks ago, it was slightly bigger and caused a local infection and he was put on antibiotics. Today he had a checkup at the hospital and it all looked great so they went to get lunch before going home (hospital is about an hour drive from here). Getting out of the car in the parking lot downtown he slipped and fractured his hip sad2.gif He's having surgery tomorrow.

Yeah he's all drugged up and of course hating it. Thanks though, I'm sure he'll be fine, he has 4 kids who are going to be relentlessly helping him recover.

Maybe you could tell your Dad that it's hip to be cool and cool to be hip especially in a winery beerbong.gif  wonderland of ice and snow cones. Show him our avatar if he doesn't get it.

sad2.gif That's terrible news and I hope the surgery goes well and he does not have any complications after that.

What politics from both sides wants to teach us is that things are never complex. If you have your little package and something doesn't fit into that package, You don't know what to make of it so you want to dismiss it or then you will have to do the work of reconsidering your assumptions. - Michael Malice

There were 4 incidents with the same outcome in the same city within one hour yesterday. They're lining them up for surgery today and tomorrow. Dad's getting some sort of hip replacement and his op is scheduled for tomorrow

Yeah it sucks and he was pretty mad about the whole deal. Now he's so drugged up that mom couldn't make out what was going on. We're waiting for further updates.

The hospital is about an hour drive from here and of course today we have blizzard conditions so you don't go out driving unless you have to.

On the upside it's the best damn time of the year to have surgery. It's -12 outside.

There was a bad car crash due to bad weather postponing dad's surgery and it's most likely not happening today.

Confirmed! Surgery not happening anymore today. This is good news, you want your surgeon to be well rested.

Since the surgeon is taking his time to do the surgery (he's triaging) one would think that is a very good sign. A high school classmate of mine is a retired highly successful orthopedic surgeon. I asked him this very question about how each break must be different from every other break he helped mend.

He gave a me a surprising answer. He said they learn in medical school to categorize breaks. They can often tell how the break happened, in fact.  Knowing your dad's daughter a little bit (you), I'd guess he is indeed a strong man who will be ready to dance as soon as he can get his shoes back on. You'll be sure to do your part by providing him with a steady supply of liquid refreshments, of course.  chuckle.gif
