Well Dad's back home! yay.gif My nurse sister got him all sorts of walkers and supports he needs and I'm on stand by in case of emergency since I live the closest. But he's up and walking, sitting and laying down and getting up himself so he's doing really good.

That is great news Octo, but they sure don't waste any time getting him up and moving do they?

It's how they treat this type of injury and rehabilitation these days over here. It's proven successful

Good to hear he's rehabbing nicely.

It could have been worse, you could have forgotten his birthday.

İmage

While I'm here I can say that Dad is doing real good. I have to put on his compression socks in the mornings because mom doesn't have enough strength in her hands, but other than that he's doing normal stuff for an old man; Watching TV, eating, napping... chuckle.gif

That's great. Are the compression socks for providing extra support or is there inflammation?

His feet are swollen. Water retention due to his heart condition. He's a pretty tall guy too making the old pump work a lot harder.

I had to get really mad at him for wearing crocs to take out trash and stuff like that. Yeah they're comfy and he has no problems putting them on, but it's goddamn winter and they're slick as hell on snow. I've been really worried about him slipping and JR had dreams of him doing just that.

When he slipped he had on some other comfy shoes that were not winter shoes sad2.gif

You may need to remind him when walking on ice that he needs to take small shuffling steps. I fell on the ice the other day and put my hand out to stop my fall, now my wrist and back are screwed, since then I do the shuffle walk and it seems to be working. Why is he taking out the garbage?

Why wouldn't he take the trash out? Of course not now while he's healing, but it's good for him to get some light exercise like that every day.

Just because there is ice that he could slip on again, is all I was thinking about.
