She caught a Luna moth and it is interesting because these moths emerge from the cocoon and only live for one week and only to mate. I hope it mated before she killed it.

Quote:According to National Geographic Kids, "The insect doesn't have a mouth or a digestive system. That's because it only lives for about a week after leaving the cocoon, and it doesn't ever eat." The luna moth spends about a month in caterpillar form, 3 weeks in a cocoon and only 1 week with its eye-catching green wings. As adults, they live solely to mate.

My cats have been catching and killing large unknown animals. All that's left of one is a big head about the size of my fist. The yellow and tabby cat are still eating it.

Unknown animals? blink.gif Where do you live...in the Amazon rainforest where no man has gone before?

That's something like my daughter said, "What's the point?" just to pass on DNA?

It was beautiful...my heart sank when I got it away from her hoping it would fly to safety, but she caught it again and I guess she dealt the death blow. They are a gorgeous mint green colour.
