Buabeng said he wore the ring on his right index finger when he got home and felt the ring tightening up his finger.

“Now I hear voices asking me to come out of my room at night. I have been hearing human voices in my ears but I cannot see them”.

Strangest story I've read in some time. I tend to think conclusions about demons being responsible are a bit far fetched.
You can read cases all over the net about similar instances, and it seems to me he's suffering from metal allergies.
The human voices in the head is probably the onset of schizophrenia as many with schizophrenia hear voices other people don't hear, and may even think other people are trying to hurt them.

"found the ring by the roadside on his way home from church and picked it up."

So... Don't go to church and this kind of stuff won't happen, or...
No access to a little dremel tool to make a cut across it with low risk of getting cut, or
A broken ring has no story appeal on today's internet.

Nobody bloody starving, either.
