All the books were Nordic authors. Murder in Greenland, Harry Hole series from Sweden. What ever happened to mystery authors from USA, UK ?

Interesting point. Seems talented authors from the US have a hard time getting published these days, just as talented musicians have a hard time getting their music heard.
There's a culture at the top, and unfortunately for the rest of humanity, all we get is their approved authors, musicians, politicians etc...
They are trying to maintain a status quo that no one wants.

Fashions come and go. Maybe at the moment Scandinavian authors are in.

This is a book by a Finnish author I'd like to read:

Memory of Water

Quote:Global warming has changed the world's geography and its politics. Wars are waged over water, and China rules Europe, including the Scandinavian Union, which is occupied by the power state of New Qian. In this far north place, seventeen-year-old Noria Kaitio is learning to become a tea master like her father, a position that holds great responsibility and great secrets. Tea masters alone know the location of hidden water sources, including the natural spring that Noria's father tends, which once provided water for her whole village.

It's all about connections these days. The daughter of a former Irish PM is a published author. Dunno if her books are any good, but I doubt it mattered to anyone signing her up.

Most authors who blog about their start admit they always had some friend or relative who was an agent or worked in publishing already.

Don't supposed they have Lolita, The Protocols of Zion, Mein Kampf and The Anarchist Cookbook in their mystery book section?

I can see by your coat my friend you're from the other side. Just one thing I got to know. Who won?
