No one under 21 would be able to buy cigarettes in New York City, under a new proposal that marks the latest in a decade of moves to crack down on smoking.

New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn discussed details of a proposed law that would raise the minimum age for tobacco purchases from 18 to 21. City Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley, some of Quinn’s fellow City Council members and health advocates joined her.

Under federal law, no one under 18 can buy tobacco anywhere in the country, but some states and localities have raised it to 19. Texas lawmakers recently tried to increase the minimum age to 21, but the

side note honestly think all tobacco should be destroyed as it literally destroys the human body when inhaled and it smells skanky and makes smokers smell skanky

i was a chain smoker from the age of 15.. 16 was the legal age here.. i think its 18 now.. i think they should just take all the nicotine out of them, and then see how many people smoke.. its the nicotine that makes it hard to stop..

they should ban it.. the Govt makes too much money from it..

Yep. Was 16 here too, but I believe it's 18 now.

I think there would be a whole lot of grumpy smokers all over the world if there was a global ban on nicotine. damned.gif

Age limit may stop some drinking, but its never even remotely stopped smoking .
And you have to wonder why .
In NY ,nothing is done, unless money is to be made somehow. That's all the soda ban was about .
Fuhrer bloombarf does NOTHING,if it doesn't
A- further his career
B- make his admin money
C- cut all his rich upper east side buddies a monetary break somehow.

End of story .

I have a massive ivy problem. I don't want to use ivy killer . The only one that works is monSATANos roundup ivy killer.
Will tobacco water kill ivy ? And if so ,how does one make it .
You guys do know ,major cigarette companies in the USA ,also own the nicorette/patch/gum to quit ,right ?
It's why they so oppose those electric cigarettes. They don't own it ,ergo they make no money if you quit.
Huge tobacco is in bed with big pharm.

They make money if you smoke,or if you don't ,but not if you quit using the electronic ciggarette.

I'm not sure it'll kill ivy, but if your ivy has bugs it will take care of it. I should probably have said insecticide.
