So, you have too many strawberries? Here is a scrumptious recipe for strawberry puffs.

More goodies to enjoy...just prolong your birthday as an excuse. lol

lol i have never been an attention seeker
no i dont like bday threads and that.

i doubt i will make anything with the strawberries i will just eat them as is

they are good just like that

i tried to freeze some really lovely ones once. i was 20 something then..
i put them all on a cookie sheet, and froze em
and then when i went to eat some later, they just sort of.. collapsed. like mush.
i was not very happy about that.. :(

all my strawberries ... all tasted rotten and too ripe and just mush.
i was sad.

Did you try freezing them in water?

I am partial to strawberry desserts, such as what I posted. I usually buy angel food cake and put make a strawberry slush with whipped cream during the Summertime...it is so light and refreshing.

no water but i did rinse them first i THINK. i cant remember that..

also i took off the stem thingies at the end.

maybe i shouldnt have? maybe i should have left those on.. ?

It may not have helped, because the freezing process changes the molecular structure of the water in the strawberries any way, so ... ?

How about making a strawberry/sugar mash then freeze it...not too much sugar though? How about making strawberry mash popsicles?

to do it properly? i dont know exactly what that is lol but i heard that.

so maybe i should have done something similar to the strawberries too..
dunno
what did i know at 20 lol

im not gonna try anything except eating these ones. i woulnt want to waste em
with another unsure attempt at something..

But I think they are flash frozen, which may not damage the flesh of the fruit.

You didn't do anything wrong, it's just how strawberries are. They turn to mush when thawed no matter what you do. They also lost their sweetness when frozen so they're not really that exciting. Best served crushed (and sweetened according to taste) on waffles with whipped cream.

oh really?
but they sell em in bags frozen..

of course, i didnt let them thaw completely when i bought those either.
i put them in the blender right out of the freezer to make smoothies..

so i guess they would too have been mushy if i had tried eating them thawed?

Yes they would have been mushy. Making smoothies out of them is perfect. But they're nowhere as tasty as fresh strawberries of course.
