The Pentagon is considering the re-deployment of nuclear cruise missiles in Europe in response to a new Russian cruise missile that the United States has charged violates a 1987 nuclear treaty, a senior Pentagon official told Congress on Wednesday.

Brian P. McKeon, deputy undersecretary of defense for policy, said U.S. cruise missile deployments are among a range of options being considered if Russian fails to return to compliance with the Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces (INF) treaty.

McKeon did not provide details of the military options being studied but said they ranged from “reactive defense, to counterforce, to counter value defense measures.”

“We don’t have ground-launched cruise missiles in Europe now obviously because they’re prohibited by the treaty,” McKeon said. “But that would obviously be one option to explore.”

That's one of the main reasons I strongly object to Finland ever joining NATO.

Ugh, I just don't know how to feel about that... The Pentagon is so full of crap... Did you guys hear about that "Rectal Rehydration" aka 5-10 gallon enema and enema feeding of terrorists? We sure have some twisted minds up in there... I think the U.S. should focus on domestic issues instead of butting into and destroying the lives of the good citizens of the world...

If it's to be,
it's up to me.

This one time, at band camp, um, what ever happened to that flute...

Our ceaseless human cultural mindset of death and destruction has just got to stop or we are friggin doomed for while we're so gawd damn busy designing and implementing evermore ways to crush our cities and kill each other off an asteroid or comet is going to suddenly come screaming along and slam into the earth and hurdle the relatively few survivors back into the ancient stone age and most of us will die in horror knowing that all of our centuries of herculean efforts of time and money and science spent towards weapons of war could and should have been used towards creating some type of adequate defense system against incoming cosmic objects that will annihilate most and maybe even all of us someday but i suppose we always seem to learn the hard way don't we?!

Perhaps we were always meant to destroy ourselves. I'm a believer that sophisticated humanity has occurred several times in the last few hundred thousand years. Perhaps we are all still slaves to a greater force who ultimately aids us in wiping out ninety-nine percent of the population every now and then when we refuse to take the correct path to enlightenment. Look at what we are achieving now. Recycling, biodegradable items, the carbon footprint, cloud services etc etc. How long would it take for this turn of humanity to be completely eradicated including our biggest man-made structures? Maybe ten thousand years? Maybe one hundred thousand years? Because of our technological achievements our imprint on the earth is less and less. The only things left from five thousand years ago are monuments like the pyramids and stone henge. I read Phillip Pullman and 'His Dark Materials' and wonder how many advanced human time periods there have been. Maybe those that control us 'reset' us when they choose. Perhaps they do this because we constantly make pock marks on this planet and until we get it right by choosing peace and love over war and hate they will not us let us advance as a sentient race. Once humanity gets it right after a 'reset' those in control will set us free to grow untroubled and unburdened and become part of a larger collective of galactic proportions.

Just my two pence (cent) after a lifetime of reading and watching Science fiction.

I can see by your coat my friend you're from the other side. Just one thing I got to know. Who won?

Our masters of reality aliens discussing humanity..."Dammit once more we gave them all another chance and they failed miserably so lets wipe them out again and see if they get it next time?!"

Maybe theres some kind of weird unknown chemical in the meat that most of us eat that keeps our brains devolving us into homicidal blood thirsty maniacs?!

That is exactly how I feel! I mean think of cities. In every nation people have been gravitating to cities for over a hundred years. Perhaps it's a game of chess and when all (the majority) of the pieces are in place (in cities) it's check mate.
