Oh those would be just regular outdoor lamps so you can see where you're going if you venture outside in the dark. You don't want any light pollution towards the sky in that environment so they're just shielded on top and excess light hits the ground.

Woooow!

Sinne!

What a great idea...igloos with glass ceilings.
Heres more enchanting perspectives...

Hopefully they are not made out of glass...

But of something much safer like plexiglass...

Hmmm by the way now that I'm looking more closely...

I can clearly see the white lighted igloos above and below...

But what are all those pinkish lights within the snow near them?!

One Winter, hubby and I booked a cabin up North that boasted of having a hot tub 'under the stars'. Well, yes, kinda. The hob tub was in a tent with a plastic or plexiglas roof and from the rising steam you could not see anything. Meh!

I would suspect with either plexiglas or glass, if they didn't clean it regularly, it would develop a dirty film and you would not get the full effect as if viewing it directly outdoors.

The hot tubs at Kakslauttanen are supposedly really on the outside (on the porch) so it shouldn't get too steamy.

This about the glass igloos:

Quote:The glass igloos have been built from a very special thermo glass. For this reason, the temperature inside an igloo remains constant at normal room temperature. This also prevents the glass from becoming frosted, hence keeping the view clear even when the temperature drops below -30C.

In this climate you almost have to think of that sort of stuff, especially trying to promote that glass roof feature.

Except, I would like to see a telescope in the room, on a platform. Is that asking for too much?

I can't imagine how gazing at the heavens could dampen anyone's mood for anything.

If I wanted just a romantic (ahem) weekend, I'd book a honeymoon suite with jacuzzi tub and bubble bath somewhere instead...with a mirror on the ceiling. chuckle.gif
