does anyone else think this is a very odd idea..?

'Pizza Hut has created a new box cardboard pizza box that, when paired with your smartphone, turns into a movie projector.'

If it works it's a great idea.

I question the cost?

Why do you find it odd?

I would have no interest in such, but I suppose it's a bonus for those tho have nothing else to do other than watch shït through a pizza box.

I can see why people not into advertising/marketing would think it odd, but pizza and movies do pair up nicely, so I think the marketing people may be on to something here.

It may be that it will be a Summer fad thingie, what with more people getting outside and wanting to stay outside even after dark.

Well, project the movie onto the side of a building, hang up a sheet, or kids can project it inside a tent. I guess if you are out in the bush and the trees are full and close enough together one might get away with projecting the movie onto them.

In the vid, not only do you have to pay $15+ for the projector, but you have to put it together yourself...pizza hut is basically giving you a free projector already assembled.
