Helps to be in the middle of wine country, though I unfortunately I don't have the money for good vintages. Got some red ice wine though - you can only get that early in the season here.

Ooo, I'd love to try some red ice wine! We don't get that here and I was only made aware of such loveliness by having a bottle sent to me by my dear friend Shadow in BC. beercheer.gif

I like a sugar content in the 20's, which is the lowest sweetness for ice wine. What was the sugar content in your ice wine, Octo and you too Jessica?

Well, after I went on an ice wine tasting tour, I started checking sugar content. Some of the higher sugar content wines are sickly sweet. Ewwwww

I have a small bottle of crabapple wine that's sweet but really flavorful. Kelowna winerys get really creative. I prefer the dry wines too beercheer.gif

Morning Shadow and everyone else.

I too tried the non-grape fruit wines here at the Niagara Region of Ontario and most of them are quite nice. I don't think I tried crabapple though, wouldn't that be a more tart taste?

My absolute favorite fruit wine is a Polish wine our liquor stores bring in from Poland, it's a cherry wine and so tasty.

It's a desert wine with a very strong crabapple flavor, it's not cheap but not like ice wine either.

so today i just bought and opened a bottle of

rust en vrede cabernet sauvignon 2010

http://www.wine-searcher.com/wine-87731-...uth-africa

as i said earlier i don't like red wine so to me it isn't as pleasurable as a good white wine but it looks pretty good and doesn't taste miserable. :P

within the glass it looks deep dark red - almost the color of venous blood. it smells fruity - like ripe fruits. reminds me a bit of black- or redcurrant.
the taste is pleasurable. reminds me a bit of cocoa, black- or redcurrant, plum and something else. lol
i have to think about christmas after every sip for some reason. 13.gif

not bad. but as i said earlier i don't like red wine.^^

i once tried a shiraz... don't remember the grower... but it tasted like shit.^^ i think it was a peter lehman shiraz... had some weird design... it showed a playing card or something on the label... it was truly horrible.

I had some horrible wine too, but if you successfully match it with the right food it turns to awesome wine. I noticed that accidentally beercheer.gif
