another wine i like is

fetzer chardonnay

http://www.fetzer.com/index.cfm?&is_legal=1

although this wine is nothing special and the taste changes from season to season i never was disappointed. - so every time i'm not sure what wine i should buy i go with this one because this winemaker produces constant quality for a fair price.

today's wine is

finca flichman dedicado 2006 mendoza

http://www.wine-searcher.com/wine-52046-...-argentina

well, i think it's overpriced. don't get me wrong it tastes good and stuff but i'd rather go with the rust en vrede i mentioned above. i've expected more from this wine. really. :( (especially because it says on the label "dedicado, finca flichman's most noble wine, is made only in exceptional harvest years when special climate conditions are surely to contribute to our wine art working. dedicado is the result of blending cabernet sauvignon, malbec and syrah grapes from our own vineyards. dedicado is aged during, at least, 12 months in french oak casks and 12 months in bottle. intense colour, predominantly red and violet tones. scented, red ripe fruits, tobacco leaves and spices. full flavoured, red and black berry fruits, complex round long lasting aftertaste. uncork a good while before drinking it." - honestly... you could substitute this wall of text with the word "meh" - this would be more fitting.)

i'd pay €15/$20 for this wine. not more.

so i uncorked a bottle of

paesi tuoi
barolo
2004
terredavino

about 30 or 45 minutes ago.

it has an official docg ("denominazione di origine controllata e garantita") label around it's neck.

the smell is pretty cool. i haven't tried a barolo before and heard that it smells and tastes like roses and tar - and indeed it smells like roses. weird.
the color seems to be garnet red.
and indeed it tastes like uneatable plants. chuckle.gif like you fkn eat the stem of some fkn plant or something. there are also notes of some kind of minerals and earth. like when you eat dirt. :P
somehow i expected something better. lol

but the smell is cool.

i think i'll drink it. it's not bad - it's just not the taste i prefer. at least i tried something new.^^

Whaler bought me a bottle of this

I''m about to open, damn it's a cold miserable day here. +1C and a strong NW wind. I can take the cold but the wind, that just isn't fun.
