I respect this guy and he died doing it, doing what he loved, which was rislky'sporty' stuff, but uh should we all hafta rescue these people?

You're going to have to tell the little girl that lost her cat in a tree that the taxpayer's can't afford to pay the fireman to help her. You'll be the neighborhood hero.

but you just said a few posts back

Quote:Apparently in a health/sport/pagan wosrhipping culture, this is holier than someone who risks their life with, say, heroin?

so you obviously equate sport and health with paganism..

no offense, but you seem to have displayed most of that sentiment on this thread.

That was my own sentiment.

Also don't forget most accident happen in the comfort of our homes.

Quote:Statistics show that most accidents occur in the home so a quick review of common problem areas such as the entry, kitchen and bathroom may prevent that trip in the first place.

Accidents do happen and I'm glad there are trained people to handle those situation, whether it's sports related or not.

@blather

Quote:Why should I or any other taxpayer fund knee replacements for joggers?

you cant be serious? if joggers (i have never been one) who have been health nuts their whole life need knee replacements then of course the govt should pay for it.. (we are talking about Australia, where the government would pay for that most likely) at least they got of their butts and tried to live a healthy life, isnt that what life is about?

so i take it you are fat and have never done any exercise in your life? are you jealous of people that do? thats what it sounds like..

Actually most people I know of that needed knee replacement were overweight and probably hadn't jogged very far, if ever.
