1. The argument that the draft would "militarize our democracy" is a strawman argument.
The United States of America is not, and never has been a Democracy, of any form whatsoever, nor does the United States of America have the political machinery of a Democracy, simply because it isn't a democracy.
What the United States of America is, is a Republic, and not a free one either, but one lead by the Government under a Constitution that is by design, nearly impossible to Amend, Change or Supercede.
This is because the United States of America has been built under the rule of law and order, not democracy.
A 51% majority vote to be able to rid ourselves of our rule of law, is a pretty bad republic.
2. The Argument that the United States of America isn't a military society, is another strawman.
First of all, the only societies that don't have a military, are small islands in the caribbean, there is no other societies on earth that don't have a military, regardless of how well it functions compared to others.
Moreover, the United States of America was founded by not only Militarism, but by a General of the British Army, and then the American Army, and has been in fact, from beginning to end...
Forged in war.
There has not been one single factor in the creation of the United States of America, that was not at least in part, dependent on the results of Warfare.
Even today's hippies, are the results of warfare.
As there never would be today's hippies yuppies, if wars have not been fought, with their possibility of existence up for grabs.
All wars that the USA had against European powers are perfect examples of such wars....
But none is bigger than two wars...
The Civil War against slavery, and World War 2 against hitler.
3. The age of 18 being the majority age, is a system designed for war.
If the USA were truly a Demilitarized society of "civilians"...
The age of majority, would be about 25.
But instead, we have needed the energy, and the body of a teenager, injected with brains from a drill instructor and boot camps.
Because of war.
The lack of a draft system, (the draft system for which 18 years old is designed around) ...
Is the reason why America sucks and is highly dangerous.
And the way to fix it...
is to bring back the draft.
