The western municipality of Merikarvia shoveled its way into history books on Saturday with a new Finnish record for snowfall in a single day. Local residents were in high spirits because of the chance notoriety, despite the wintry chaos.

The inhabitants of the municipality of Merikarvia in Western Finland were stunned overnight when their town became the site of a new Finnish record. At 8 am Saturday, meteorologists measured that more than 70 centimetres of snow had accumulated in a single 24-hour period, or close to two and a half feet.

It's not that awfully far from here, yet we have less than an inch of snow 13.gif

It's the snow cannon effect, when you have extremely cold air travel over open waters. You get the same thing around the big lakes in the US.

Well, I'm with you on the math thing chuckle.gif

Struck a deal with my math teacher in high school.
He said I'd get the lowest passed-grade and wouldn't
have to participate in any tests, as long as I STFU and
behaved in class.

Of course, I immediately accepted the offer, and always
smoked a doobie before the math lessons, whenever I
had any.

Oh, those were the days.
Sweet innocence. :)
